Death toll from New Zealand mosque shooting reaches 50

The death toll from Friday's deadly shooting in New Zealand is now reported to have risen to at least 50.<br />Authorities are working to identify the victims so bereaved families can bury them.<br />For more on this and other news around the world we turn to our Ro Aram…<br />Aram…what's the latest?<br /><br />Well Mark… the death toll rose after officials found another body at the Al Noor mosque, where most of the victims were killed.<br />50 others are also wounded in the massacre at two mosques in the city of Christchurch.<br />Just over 30 of them remain in hospital, with a dozen in critical condition.<br />The shooter, identified as 28-year-old Australian citizen Brenton Harrison Tarrant, has been charged with murder.<br />More charges are likely as the trial goes on, with another court date set for next month.<br />Authorities found an 87-page manifesto filled with anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim ideas, which he said were exacerbated while travelling across Europe in 2017.<br />Tarrant also live-streamed the attack on Facebook.<br />The social media giant says it has removed one and a half million videos of the attack.<br />Three other people were also arrested, but officials said they were not involved in Friday's attack.<br />Officials believe Tarrant acted alone.<br />New Zealand's government was to meet Monday to discuss changes to the country's gun laws.<br />Meanwhile, authorities are rushing to identify the 50 people killed in the terror attack.<br />Islamic tradition calls for a person to be buried as soon as possible after death - ideally within 24 hours. <br />Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said authorities had started returning identified bodies to families, and all bodies will be returned by Wednesday. <br />
