Pregnant women living in fine dust-filled regions at higher risk of premature birth: Study

A new study has found that pregnant women in South Korea have a higher chance of going into premature labor if they live in areas that are often subjected to high concentrations of fine dust.<br />Researchers from Kyung Hee University Hospital and the National Cancer Center analyzed the births of one-point-seven million newborns from 2010 to 2013.<br />They found mothers who lived in dusty areas were one-point-five times more likely to give birth prematurely,... within the 37th week of pregnancy.<br />Those residing in areas where fine dust density exceeds 70 micrograms per cubic meter,...had a seven-point-four percent chance of giving birth before their baby's due date.<br />However, women living in less polluted areas had a four-point-seven percent chance of going into premature labor. <br />
