The South Korean military has confirmed a medium-range surface-to-air missile accidentally launched from an air base in Chuncheon , Gangwon-do Province, on Monday morning.<br />It exploded in the air,... it's not confirmed if it had caused any injuries or damaged property nearby.<br />South Korea's Air Force said it's the first time the Cheongung , also known as the Cheolmae-2, has discharged abnormally.<br />The Air Force says it's investigating the cause of the accident... which occurred during maintenance work... even though no one had initiated the launch.<br />The Cheongung has been deployed in real combat in South Korea since 2015.<br />In its first live-fire test in 2017, the missiles flew around 40 kilometers and successfully hit a mock target. <br />
