Local university brings 3D printing education to rural areas

The 3D printing industry is growing rapidly, but many still don't have access to the new technology.<br />But a local university has been educating students and soldiers in remote areas on 3D printing free of charge.<br />Park Se-young has more. <br />This 3D printing pen allows users to draw with heated plastic instead of ink.<br />The little device serves as a freehand 3D printer, …and lets the students create three-dimensional objects.<br />More elaborate works like human faces are created using a 3D printer.<br /><br />"It was cool and fun to make a bag and face just like mine using the pen."<br /><br />Young men serving their mandatory military service were also able to learn about 3D printing …and make their own creations using 3D printing pens.<br />The free education program was offered by Kyungdong University and funded by the local government …to provide rural areas with 3D printing education.<br />Since last November, more than 300 people have participated in the program.<br /><br />"I would like to ask for more support and cooperation so that regions outside the capital area stay interested in the fourth industrial revolution."<br /><br />The university's knowledge sharing platform is expected to help bridge the learning gap between urban and rural areas.<br />Park Se-young, Arirang News. <br /><br />
