Survey Says Social Media Has Made Young People More Depressed According to results <br />from a survey by the <br />American Psychological Association, cases of mental health disorders rose exponentially among kids and <br />young adults around 2011. American Psychological Association, <br />via NBC Over 200,000 kids under 18 <br />participated in the survey Likewise, 400,000 adults <br />18 and over did as well. Survey responses from the kid group started in 2005 and ended in 2017. For the adults, the time period <br />was 2008 to 2017. Each year, participants completed a questionnaire about any depressive symptoms they <br />might have experienced. In the adult group, results show suicidal thoughts or other <br />outcomes jumped 47%. Among adolescents, symptoms related to depression increased 52%. Besides the APA's survey, other studies have shows too much social media is linked to depression, isolation and anxiety.
