Korea took home 120 medals and ribbons at the 2019 Abu Dhabi Special Olympics this March. <br />The Korean team earned 44 golds, 25 silvers, and 28 bronze medals.<br />The Special Olympics aims to encourage and develop the potential of disabled athletes, and those athletes who didn’t win a medal can still appear on the podium. Athletes who finish in the fourth to eighth places receive a ribbon instead of a medal. Because the event prioritizes coexistence rather than competition, the country ranking is not announced. <br />
