Thailand has been holding its first general elections since a military coup in 2014.<br />The announcement of the provisional results are expected on Monday. <br />For more on this and other news around the world we turn to our Hong Yoo who is taking over from Ro Aram… <br />Hong Yoo, welcome,… so give us ther latest on this election in Thailand...<br />Well, Mark…The announcement of the provisional results was originally expected late Sunday, but it was unexpectedly delayed to Monday.<br />According to Thailand's Election Commission, the results will come out at 2 p.m local time<br />More than 90 percent of the votes counted show a surprising lead of the pro-military party Palang Pracharat with more than 7 million votes.<br />Pheu Thai , the head of the party of the former Prime Minister had 6.6 million.<br />The newly formed Future Forward Party supported mostly by the younger generation with its progressive policies and social media campaigns was third, with nearly 4.8 million votes.<br />Prayuth Chan-ocha( ) , the retired army general who led the coup against the country's last elected government five years ago, hopes the election will return him to power as a civilian prime minister.<br />The prime minister will be the person who secures a majority across both houses, and the 250-seat Senate is seen as giving Prayuth an advantage.<br />About 52 million voters were registered to vote.<br />The turnout was just under 66 percent, much lower than the 87 percent expected in early voting last week. <br />
