Rosie O'Donnell Opens up About
Tension With Whoopi Goldberg Details of the feud
have been revealed
in Ramin Setoodeh’s
new book, 'Ladies
Who Punch: The
Explosive Inside
Story of The View.' Their first clash was
in 2009 when O’Donnell
disagreed with Goldberg’s
defense of director Roman Polanski. Goldberg supposedly sent O’Donnell
an “angry letter” as a result, to which
O’Donnell responded diplomatically. O’Donnell’s return to ‘The View'
in 2014 was reportedly the
second instance of their conflict. She claims that any contributions
she offered were met with
hostility by Goldberg and that
the tension was apparent onscreen. Rosie O'Donnell, via 'People' Staffers on the show also added
that O’Donnell would openly complain
about Goldberg to guests on the show. She called Goldberg’s treatment
of her “the worst experience
[she’s] ever had on live television.” O’Donnell left ‘The View’
in February of 2015, citing
her family and health as
reasons for her departure.
