U.S. safety regulator opens investigation into Hyundai, Kia vehicle fires

A U.S. government agency is opening new investigations into non-collision fires involving vehicles manufactured by Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors.<br />According to Reuters on Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the probes were prompted after receiving a petition from a group that fights for the rights of consumers.<br />The investigations will cover around three million vehicles...including the 2011 through 2014 Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe, and the 2011 through 2014 Kia Optima and Sorento.<br />Since 2015, the South Korean automakers have recalled more than 2-point-3 million vehicles...related to various engine fire risks. <br />
