U.S. safety regulator opens investigation into Hyundai, Kia vehicle fires

The U.S. is opening a new probe into non-collision fires involving vehicles manufactured by Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors.<br />According to Reuters on Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the move was prompted after receiving a petition from a group that fights for consumers' rights.<br />The investigations will cover around three million Hyundai and Kia vehicles.<br />Since 2015, the South Korean automakers have recalled more than 2-point-3 million vehicles due to engine fire risks. <br />
