10대 그룹 일자리 사정도 '양극화'…5곳 줄고 5곳 늘고<br /><br />he total number of workers at South Korea's top ten companies rose last year overall.<br />But among those companies... it was different story depending on how well their businesses were doing.<br />Some were down sharply.<br />Kim Da-mi has the details. <br />The respective performance of each of South Korea's top ten corporations in 2018 was reflected in the size of their various workforces. <br />The total number of workers edged up zero-point-six percent on-year in 2018. <br />Last year Samsung Electronics had over 100-thousand people on the payroll for the first time in 7 years. <br />The Financial Supervisory Service credited the semiconductor boom for the expansion.<br />The tech giant topped the chart for the most workers for the 17th year in a row. <br />In fact, around three-thousand more employees joined Samsung's Semiconductor and Device Solution teams last year.<br />After Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor and LG Electronics had the largest workforces in 2018. <br />The number of workers decreased at five other big firms,...mainly due to the poor performances of their affiliated companies, especially in the retail sector.<br />For instance, the number of people employed at GS Group's GS Retail slumped by almost 15 percent on-year in 2018.<br />Big losses were also seen at LG Group and Shinsegae Group. <br />Kim Da-mi, Arirang News. <br />
