Baltimore's Chris Davis Sets <br />MLB Hitless Record The Orioles first baseman has now gone <br />49 straight at-bats without a hit. After failing to record a hit in his <br />47th plate appearance on Monday night, Davis broke a record set in <br />2011 by Eugenio Velez. In addition to this unfortunate record, Davis set another one last year with his .168 batting average. That is the lowest in MLB history for a hitter with enough qualified at-bats during a full season. Orioles SP Andrew Cashner, via ESPN Davis, who joined Baltimore in 2011, <br />slugged an MLB-high 53 homers in 2013. He led the league with 47 home runs two seasons later.
