The Korean government has issued an advisory over the risks of mosquitoes carrying the Japanese encephalitis virus.<br />The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued an advisory on Monday, …after so-called small red house mosquitoes were found in Jeju earlier this month.<br />The warning came five days later than last year.<br />In more than 99 percent of the cases, the mosquito-borne disease is symptomless or causes mild symptoms.<br />But severe cases have a 20 to 30 percent fatality rate, …and older people tend to be more at risk.<br />In 2018, Korea reported 17 cases with one death.<br />The national immunization program provides vaccines for those under 12 years old. <br />
