Ohio Governor Signs <br />Ban on Abortion <br />After First Heartbeat Republican Gov. Mike DeWine <br />signed the stringent abortion <br />restriction into law on Thursday. The signing of the <br />"heartbeat bill" is considered <br />a major victory for abortion opponents. According to doctors, <br />a fetal heartbeat can <br />be detected as early as <br />five weeks into pregnancy. The ACLU of Ohio <br />is already preparing a <br />constitutional challenge to the law.
