Eating too many snacks with sugar and fat can increase the risk of having a child with food allergies.<br />Combined research by Seoul's Asan Medical Center and Severance Hospital surveyed the snacking patterns of 16-hundred mothers and analysed their babies' umbilical cord blood.<br />The researchers found that snacks like bread, ice cream and chocolate increased the risk of food allergies in babies by one-point-51 times.<br />They pointed to the influence of high trans fat intake, …adding that food allergies in children involve both genetic and environmental factors. <br />
