This is the shocking moment when the spire of Notre-Dame de Paris collapsed into flames as a fire ripped through the iconic cathedral on Monday afternoon (April 15). <br /><br />The footage was shot by residents of Île Saint-Louis from the Quai d'Orléans, located in the heart of the French capital. <br /><br />In the video, onlookers can be heard gasping and screaming when the spike falls as smoke fills the air.<br /><br />The roof of the cathedral also collapsed in the fire but firefighters managed to save the main structure and its two main bell towers.
