Some South Korean parents are getting fed up with their country’s centuries-old practice of describing the age of a baby as “one” at birth and another year older each New Year’s Day. The tradition dictates that babies born even in the final month of the year, December, will officially turn “two years old” on January 1. A bill introduced earlier this year aims to amend the practice so South Korea follows the international system where age ticks up another year on a person’s birthday.
