A video has emerged from Indonesia showing the scale of plastic pollution at a mangrove swamp in East Java. <br /><br />The clip, which was filmed in Pasuruan on April 15, shows plastic waste entirely covering the ground beneath the mangrove plants.<br /><br />Despite the fact that mangrove swamps effectively protect coastal areas from erosion, vast areas of this ecosystem have been destroyed around the world, particularly by the shrimp farming industry.
