Technology Is to Blame <br />for Making Americans Lazier A recent study at Washington University<br />has found that Americans spend almost a<br />third of their waking hours sitting down. The study, compromised of health surveys<br />from 51,000 Americans, found that<br />technology use was a huge contributing factor. Across a range of ages, the average<br />sitting time has increased by roughly<br />an hour a day from 2007 to 2016. They found that more than<br />50% of retired-aged adults<br />use their computers daily<br />for an hour or more, a drastic increase from the reported 15% in 2004. They also found that 62% of children between<br />the ages of 5 to 11 watch at least two hours of TV daily. Adults are recommended to perform<br />at least 150 minutes of moderate activity<br />a week, but only 1 in 4 do so. Kids between the age of 6 and 17 should<br />perform 60 minutes of exercise daily, but<br />only 1 in 5 get the recommended amount.
