Now, during the same interview with Fox News on Sunday,... U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton insisted that the U.S. did not pay North Korea for the release of Otto Warmbier. <br />Asked whether Washington had signed an agreement to pay the regime for Warmbier's medical care,... Bolton said,.... that's what he was told,... but said, the U.S. never sent the money.<br />U.S. President Donald Trump also tweeted last Friday that no money was paid. <br />The Washington Post reported last week that the U.S. signed a two million dollar medical bill that Pyeongyang had presented.<br />Warmbier was seized from a tour group while visiting North Korea in January of 2016 and was convicted on charges of trying to steal a propaganda poster and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor.<br />Then in 2017 he was returned home in a coma and died just a matter of days after. <br />
