Tensions are escalating in Venezuela... after opposition leader and National Assembly President Juan Guaido called on the military to topple the socialist government of Nicolas Maduro.<br />He not only demanded transition but also the reconstruction of the country and to recover national sovereignty,... summoning thousands of people to the streets. <br />Anti-government demonstrators clashed with troops... with armored military vehicles ramming into the protesters in the capital city of Caracas.<br />Venezuela's health services say dozens of people have been injured by rubber bullets, tear gas and live ammunition across the country.<br />The Maduro-controlled authorities said they were deactivating an attempted coup by a small group of (quote) "treacherous" soldiers. <br /><br />
