Anti-Semitic Attacks Reach<br />Historic Level in the US In 2018 there were a total of 1,879 anti-semitic attacks<br />across the country, a 99 percent increase versus 2015. It was the third-highest year on record<br />since the Anti-Defamation League (ADL)<br />began tracking such data in 1979. October 27, 2018, also marked the deadliest attack<br />on the Jewish community in the history of the U.S., when a white supremacist killed <br />11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue<br />in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Of all the recorded incidents in 2018,<br />13 percent were tied to extremist groups or<br />individuals who believed extremist ideology. Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of<br />the ADL, via statement. Anti-Semitic incidents were<br />recorded in all but four U.S. states, with the highest numbers occurring in states with<br />large Jewish populations such as California,<br />New Jersey, Massachusetts and New York.
