MIT and Harvard Receive<br />Largest Donation Ever in<br />Support of Marijuana Research Charles R. Broderick, an alumnus of both<br />universities, recently donated $9 million<br />to fund scientific research on cannabis. His intention is to help further the<br />understanding of marijuana’s basic biology. Charles R. Broderick,<br />via statement Broderick, head of Uji Capital, has previously<br />made millions of dollars from investing in<br />Canada’s marijuana industry. To avoid bias, he will have no say in the process<br />of the universities research, but does stands to<br />profit if the studies yield positive results. Harvard plans to use their $4.5 million to<br />study the effects of marijuana on brain cell function, while MIT will examine how chronic<br />exposure to cannabis affects cognition,<br />attention and working memory.
