US Aircraft Carrier <br />Deployed to Middle East in <br />Response to Iranian 'Threat' On Sunday night, <br />the White House announced <br />the USS Abraham Lincoln had <br />been deployed to the region. Accompanying the Lincoln <br />is a bomber task force. The U.S. action comes in <br />response to unspecified<br />"clear indications" that Iran was <br />planning an attack on U.S. forces. National Security Advisor <br />John Bolton states the deployment <br />is "to send a clear and unmistakable <br />message to the Iranian regime ..." "... that any attack on <br />United States interests or <br />on those of our allies will <br />be met with unrelenting force." John Bolton, NSA, <br />via ABC News Secretary of State Mike Pompeo <br />stated that the U.S. will respond <br />to "any actions" Iran or "related <br />third-party proxies ... may take." The USS Abraham Lincoln <br />was in the Mediterranean <br />after leaving Norfolk, VA on April 1.
