Disney Announces New Upcoming 'Star Wars' and 'Avatar' Movies According to Disney, the first film of a new 'Star Wars' <br />trilogy will hit theaters in December 2022. Two more 'Star Wars' movies will <br />then be released every other year. Both of those films will premiere in the December 2024 and December 2026. Disney also revealed that the sequel <br />to James Cameron's 'Avatar' will <br />debut in December 2021. Before this new date, it was scheduled for December 2020 release. Three more sequels for 'Avatar,' the <br />highest-grossing movie of all time, <br />will then coincide with 'Star Wars.' Just like 'Star Wars,' they will also premiere in December.
