Today, according to the lunar calendar, Koreans celebrate Buddha's birthday.<br />This year, to be exact, the 2-thousand 5-hundred and sixty-third anniversary of his birth.<br />It was designated a national holiday in 1975.<br />To celebrate, some 10,000 people, including some high-profile dignitaries, attended services this morning at Jogyesa temple in downtown Seoul.<br />Rituals include making lotus laterns and pouring perfume on statues of the Buddha.<br />Celebrations are being held at around twenty-thousand temples across the country. <br />
