In the first quarter this year, renewable energy made up a record-high proportion of South Korea's total power generation... at seven-and-a-half percent.<br /> According to Korea Electric Power Corporation, renewable was up 2 percentage points from a year before.<br />The government's been trying to get rid of coal-fired power plants in favor of more eco-friendly sources.<br />Coal accounted for almost 40 percent, a decline of 5 percent from a year earlier.<br />LNG was down too, by 3 percent, to 26 percent of the total.<br />The governent aims to get renewables up to 20 percent by 2030. <br />
