Acting U.S. Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan says Washington's diplomatic approach to North Korea is still in place despite the regime's recent firings of short-range missiles.
In an interview with Fox News on Monday,... Shanahan said (quote) "The strategy with North Korea hasn't changed, the diplomatic one," when explaining the Trump administration's goal of denuclearization.
However, he added his job is to make sure the U.S. is prepared in the event diplomacy fails, saying that's his focus with the military.
Shanahan's remarks come after North Korea's launched two short-range missiles into the East Sea last week.
