NORTH CAROLINA / SOUTH CAROLINA — Three massive great white sharks have been pinged by ocean trackers near the Carolinas, Newsweek reports.<br /><br />Researchers from OCEARCH, a non-profit group that tracks shark activity in the sea, shared their findings on a Facebook post.<br /><br />The largest of the sharks, named Luna, is 15 feet long and weighs a total of 2,137 pounds. The second shark, named Caroline, is 12 feet, 9 inches in length and was spotted close to Edisto Beach near South Carolina. The third, called Katherine, was seen near the coast of Charleston, South Carolina.<br /><br />The sharks were swimming across the Charleston Bump, which is around 80 to 100 miles from South Carolina, The Charlotte Observer reports.<br /><br />According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, that area is a deep water bank in which many deep-sea sharks are traditionally found."<br /><br />Citing OCEARCH, the Charlotte Observer reports sharks are feeding on fish pulled north by the Gulf Stream into waters near the Carolinas.
