Sri Lankan police confronted a crowd of angry protesters following the arrest of dozens who allegedly took part in a series of attacks on Muslim communities on Tuesday (May 14).<br /><br />Footage shows police officers trying to control a mob of angry protesters who tried to enter a police station to release the people arrested.<br /><br />Mobs attacked at least one mosque and several shops in the North Western province of Minuwangoda, with attackers throwing petrol bombs, stones and iron bars, according to reports.<br /><br />The attacks on Muslim-owned houses and shops are an apparent reprisal for last month's Easter Sunday bombings that killed more than 250 people.
