Missouri Senate Passes Bill<br />Banning Abortion After 8 Weeks The “Missouri Stands With the Unborn” bill<br />passed 24-10 in the Republican-led Senate on May 16. It is one of the most stringent anti-abortion<br />bills in the nation as it outlaws nearly all<br />abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected. The law will allow exceptions<br />in the cases of medical emergency,<br />but not for cases of rape or incest. Doctors face up to 15 years in prison<br />for violating the law, while women who<br />receive abortions would not be prosecuted. It was also intentionally designed to conflict<br />with Roe v. Wade in an attempt to spark a<br />court case that would result in its reversal.
