The leader of Basque separatist group ETA, Josu Ternera was arrested on Thursday in the French Alps after 17 years on the run.<br />He had been sought by Spanish authorities since November 2002,... when he failed to make a court appearance in connection with an attack on a police barrack in the Spanish city of Zaragoza in 1987,... which left 11 people dead,... including six children.<br />The separatist group is also known to have killed more than 800 people in more than four decades of violence,... with an aim to establish an independent Basque state.<br />The group disbanded in 2018. <br />
