England to Ban Even More <br />Plastic Items The U.K. has been leading the way when it comes to fighting pollution. They've already reduced their plastic bag usage by 85%. Now they're seeking to ban even more single-use plastic items. Straws, drink stirrers and cotton buds with plastic stems will be banned from sale by next April. These items overwhelmingly contribute to ocean pollution. Under the new ruling, plastic straws will only be available upon request for disabled people. Michael Gove, Environment secretary
