Dozens of competitors raced around the town of Wirksworth in Derbyshire on Saturday (May 25) in wheelbarrows stopping at pubs along the course to down beer. <br /><br />The boozy annual event, known as the Wirksworth Wheelbarrow Race, requires pairs of participants to run a one-mile course with one sitting in the barrow and the other pushing.<br /><br />Each team must stop at seven pubs along the way and drink, as quickly as possible, a half pint of beer before continuing the race.
