Louisiana Expected to Pass<br />Fetal Heartbeat Abortion Ban The Louisiana House of Representatives passed<br />the abortion ban on May 29 with a 79 to 23 vote. The ban prohibits women from terminating<br />a pregnancy after a fetal heartbeat is detected. It does allow abortions if the pregnancy is “medically<br />futile” or presents a serious risk to the woman. The House rejected an amendment that would<br />have allowed an exception to the ban in cases<br />of impregnation by rape or incest.
