African swine fever reported in N. Korea; S. Korea's agriculture ministry holds emergency meeting

South Korea's Agriculture Ministry held an emergency meeting on Friday morning over the first reported case of African swine fever in North Korea.<br />The ministry confirmed the case on Thursday, after North Korean authorities confirmed the outbreak on May 25th.<br />The ministry says more than 20 pigs were culled after more than 70 pigs died from the virus at a farm in North Korea's Jagang-do Province, near the border with China.<br />South Korea's Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon is demanding related officials stop the virus entering the South.<br />He also asked them to cooperate with their counterparts in North Korea on the matter.<br />
