A witness described hailstones "the size of quail eggs" battering the Moscow region of Russia on Thursday.<br /><br />A video showed the icy pellets pummelling a road and several vehicles in the Krasnogorsk district.<br /><br />According to the filmer, the hailstorm took locals by surprise as there were hardly any clouds in the sky at the time.<br /><br />The hail was accompanied by very strong winds which downed trees and also caused flooding, according to an eyewitness.
