Madrid, Jun 4 (EFE) .- Some 1,000 international observers have been called on to witness the legitimacy of presidential elections slated for June 9 in the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan, the first in 30 years without the country’s omnipotent leader, Nursulatan Nazarbayev, in the running.<br />The foreign observers include representatives from 10 organizations, including delegations from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights and the Commonwealth of Independent States.<br />The Kazakh ambassador to Spain, Konstantin Zhigalov, stressed on Tuesday in an interview with Efe the importance of such a large contingent of international observers, along with 250 foreign journalists.<br /> <br />INCLUDES ARCHIVE FOOTAGE AND VIDEO COURTESY OF KAZINFORM.
