South Korea's Jang Sung-hwa, permanent mission to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, has been elected as the chair of the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade on Tuesday.<br />Seoul's foreign affairs ministry announced on Wednesday that Jang will serve as the chair until May 2020.<br />The Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade seeks to provide member states with information on other countries' standards and certification regulations.<br />With trade protectionism increasing the amount of technology regulation, the ministry said it hopes Jang's appointment will lead to greater implementation of technology regulation agreements.<br />
