U.S. carmaker Ford says it will close its Bridgend engine plant in South Wales in September 2020.<br />The closure will cost 1,700 people their jobs... as part of Ford's global cost-cutting program.<br />Ford blamed decreasing global demand for Ford engines made in Bridgend and the expectation of increased sales of different engines to be used in future hybrid models.<br />The announcement comes hot on the heels of Honda and Jaguar Land Rover's announcement to cut thousands of jobs in the UK.<br />
