May 2019 US Jobs Report Falls <br />Well Below Expectations According to the U.S. Labor Department, <br />only 75,000 nonfarm roles were added last month. S&P Global Ratings' Beth Ann Bovino, via CNBC Despite the small number of jobs, the <br />U.S. unemployment rate held steady at 3.6%. But this is the second time in the last <br />four months that job creation has showed signs of slowing down. Outside of professional and business services, most U.S. industries did not report big hiring increases. According to CNBC, <br />33,000 jobs were added to that industry in May. In addition, healthcare also saw an <br />employment rise of 16,000. The retail industry <br />suffered a drop of 7,600 roles.
