A new study has found that eating white meat, like chicken, has the same effect on cholesterol levels as eating red meat.<br />According to a study of 100 healthy men and women by the University of California, San Francisco, …plant proteins had the healthiest impact on blood cholesterol, … but white and red meats had an identical effect… when saturated fat levels were equivalent.<br />Both small and large LDL or "bad" cholesterol particles are associated with hardening of the arteries, …and a high saturated fat diet was associated with a higher concentration of large LDL particles.<br />However, they added eating white meat may still be less harmful, …as there may be other effects from eating red meat that contribute to heart disease.<br />
