The existing Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) for Major Appointments does not have the force of law as the constitutional changes needed to facilitate its establishment have not been made.<br /><br />This is according to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.<br /><br />“We don't have a PSC.<br /><br />“We intend to have it, but to do that we need to change some provisions in (the) constitution.<br /><br />“To change that you need a two-thirds majority and the government doesn't have it,” he said during a press conference when asked about whether Putrajaya will refer the appointment of the Suhakam chairperson to the PSC.
