Long before today's football champions there were trailblazers who beat a path for them. In 1971 the unofficial England World Cup squad went to Mexico to play in front of 95,000 fans.<br />But, on their return, the England Football Association banned the women from playing and daring to represent their country. Their coach went on to create a women's national team.
