Nike Releases 2019 BETRUE<br />Collection in Honor of Pride Month In partnership with the Gilbert Baker Estate,<br />Nike has updated their BETRUE collection to<br />include the original eight-color LGBTQ flag. The rainbow flag, created by Gilbert Baker<br />in 1978, originally featured pink, red, orange,<br />yellow, green, turquoise, blue and violet. The 2019 collection bears the slogan,<br />“BETRUE UNTIL WE ALL WIN,” and<br />highlights various LGBTQ athletes and allies. Nike, via statement Nike also announced the administration<br />of grants through the Charities Aid Foundation<br />of America to more than 20 LGBTQ groups. The Los Angeles LGBT Center, National Gay<br />Basketball Association and Hetrick-Martin Institute<br />are among the organizations receiving support. The BETRUE Collection was initially started<br />in 2012 in order to promote inclusiveness<br />of the LGBTQ community in sports. From 2012 onward, Nike has released a new BETRUE<br />collection each year during National Pride month,<br />in promotion of gender and sexual equality. This year’s BETRUE collection was released in<br />North America on June 8 and features LGBTQ<br />themed footwear, apparel and accessories.
