Beto O’Rourke Announces<br />Plan for LGBTQ Equality Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke<br />released his sixth official policy proposal on June 12,<br />this time addressing LGBTQ Equality in the United States. His plan is composed of three parts:<br />executive actions he would take, legislation<br />he would enact and global steps he would pursue. O’Rourke pledged to overturn the military ban on<br />transgender people, as well as reverse “deploy or get out,"<br />which discriminates against HIV-positive service men. He also plans to increase protection of<br />LGBTQ students by bringing back previous<br />U.S. Education Department guidance programs. O’Rourke’s emphasized the need to protect transgender<br />women of color, calling for proper police training, as well<br />as the investigation of increased crimes against them.
