South Korean director Bong Joon-ho's 'Parasite' has won the Sydney Film Festival's main award,... the Sydney Film Prize.<br />Just weeks after becoming the first South Korean filmmaker to win the prestigious Palme D'Or at Cannes, Bong received the Sydney award on Sunday at the festival's closing ceremony.<br />The festival's Jury President said 'Parasite' "has an outrageous disregard for genre conventions," and is a "masterwork in its exploration of class."<br />Two years ago, Bong's previous film 'Okja' was selected as the closing film at the festival.<br />'Parasite' goes on nationwide release in Australia on June 27th.<br />
