Sport utility vehicles have been gaining popularity here in South Korea in recent years... and now take up almost half of the domestic car market.<br />Data from the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Industry and Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association shows<br />recreational vehicles like SUVs account for roughly 290-thousand of the total 610-thousand vehicles running in this country.<br />While both local and imported SUVs are popular among consumers, sales of Korea-made SUVs saw a rise of 12 percent in the first half of 2019 compared to the same period the year before.<br />Sales of smaller vehicles, on the other hand, dropped by around 19 percent during the same period.<br />More people are expected to turn to SUVs with the number projected to make up over one-half of the domestic car market by the year's end.<br />
