President Moon nominates Yoon Seok-yeol as S. Korea's next Prosecutor-General

Our top story this afternoon,...<br />President Moon Jae-in has nominated Yoon Seok-yeol, a reformist prosecutor, to lead South Korea's prosecution.<br />Let's hear what the top office had to say this morning about its decision to tap Yoon for the top post.<br /><br />"The nominee for Prosecutor-General has worked to eradicate corruption while serving as a prosecutor. He has also shown that he's an upright individual who isn't swayed by other authorities."<br /><br />Yoon has been the chief of Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office-- the nation's biggest prosecution branch -- since 2017.<br />He played a key role in the investigation into the massive corruption scandal involving former President Park Geun-hye and her longtime confidante Choi Soon-sil.<br />Officials say President Moon's nomination of Yoon indicates his strong will to reform the prosecution.<br />If Yoon is confirmed by the National Assembly,.. he will replace Moon Moo-il as his two-year term ends next month.<br />
