Lakers Scrambling to Free Up Salary-Cap Space Los Angeles is attempting to restructure their <br />deal with New Orleans for Anthony Davis. The Lakers need $32.5 million in salary-cap room <br />to sign another max-salary free agent. The team needs to make up roughly <br />$9 million in contracts moved by July 6, <br />when the Davis trade is finalized. Los Angeles is trying to trade Mo Wagner, <br />Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones. Wagner was the No. 25 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft <br />and has the most value of the available players. If successful, Kyle Kuzma and LeBron James <br />would be the only remaining <br />Lakers from last season. The Lakers are also looking at <br />purchasing second-round picks <br />in Thursday night's NBA draft. Those contracts would only count as <br />minimum salaries against the cap. The salary cap resets on <br />June 30, the official start <br />of NBA free agency.
